ABOUT TIA LOFTSGARD
Tia Loftsgard, the Executive Director of the Canada Organic Trade Association, has worked in the field of organic and international agricultural trade for over 20 years. She founded the first ever Fairtrade organic chocolate company (Camino) and has since held senior roles with Fairtrade International. Tia is currently the Chair of the Organic Technical Advisory Committee with CFIA, a voting member of the Organic Standards Technical Committee, the organic representation on the Agile Regulations Agriculture Canada Roundtable and the lead on organic data with the Government of Canada.
ABOUT MANUEL GORRIN
Manuel is the Associate Director of Brand Engagement at Nature’s Path Organic Foods, a fiercely independent, family-run, sustainably-driven organic breakfast and snack food company that believes in ‘always leaving the earth better than we found it’.
Manuel has more than twelve years of experience with corporate sustainability, operations and marketing in large and fast-growing manufacturing industries in both North and Latin America. At Nature’s Path Organic Foods, he leads brand engagement strategies for Nature’s Path Organic, Que Pasa Foods, Love Crunch Organic and EnviroKidz, and their social media communities to make organic food the top-of-mind choice for all. He is passionate about plant-based lifestyles, climate change action and animal conservation. Manuel obtained his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the Simon Bolivar University in 2009 (Caracas, Venezuela), he is an accredited Environmental Professional by ECO Canada and a Project Management Professional by the Project Management Institute.
ABOUT HELENA MCSHANE
Helena McShane is the Sustainability & Communications Manager at SPUD.ca where carpooling groceries is a way of life and organic produce is her main squeeze. With 20 years in the communications space, Helena entered the world of sustainability through the Environmental Sciences communications department and continued on to Ocean Wise where food and sustainability come together. Today, she works both with developing the most sustainable practices at SPUD and telling the world about them.
ABOUT IAN WALKER
Ian Walker co-founded Left Coast Naturals 25 years ago. Today, Left Coast Naturals is Canada’s largest organic bulk foods distributor and manufactures two in-house brands, Hippie Snacks and Left Coast Organics. As a strong believer that business has a responsibility to lead the way to a sustainable future, Ian is committed to a triple bottom line philosophy. He lives in North Vancouver with his partner Louise and their four kids spend lots of time exploring the mountains.
